Happy Blooms and a story
Posted on 29. Apr, 2010 by admin in Blog

As a floral designer with 15 years experience, I should really take more photos of the work we’ve done here at Blooms. I can tell you that recently I received a phone call from a very happy recipient of a bouquet that I had the pleasure of making. I love these phone calls! I can usually remember every bouquet I’ve made and the one in the photo here was a lot of fun to make! It has liatris, gerbera daisies, oriental lilies (those are the fragrant ones), stock, alstromeria, lilac and tulips. A great get well or happy birthday bouquet.
What you don’t know, is that for every one photo that I post here on this site, I’ve probably made hundreds of spectacular bouquets that I never got a photo of. I have to admit, that’s pretty bad. I guess it’s good in one way…we’re super busy! Which is good for you, because when a florist is busy, their product isn’t sitting around, we’re constantly rotating our inventory, cleaning our buckets, properly hydrating our flowers, so the end product that you either send or receive is the highest quality available. We’re pretty picky about that here.
Our clients are #1 in our book. Without you, there would be no Blooms. Without Blooms, how could I create a lasting memory in your special someone’s day? So please, support your local florist. And when I do create the next masterpiece, I promise that I’ll take a pic and write a story about it!
Best Gerbera Daisies in Seattle at Blooms!
Posted on 29. Apr, 2010 by admin in Blog

Are you a Gerbera Daisy fan? These flowers just so happen to be one of my favorite flowers! Not only are they one of the “happiest” flowers available, but they have some of the most vibrant colors ever found in nature and we here at Blooms, your local Seattle florist, has the best gerberas in Seattle!
Gerberas are the fifth most popular flower in the world, they can mean innocence, purity, and cheerfulness. These large daisy variations come in a number of vibrant colors, and sending them is the perfect way to brighten someone’s day.
When you want to send the gift of cheer, gerbera daisies are your sure choice. Distinguished by large flowering heads that closely resemble those of sunflowers, gerbera daisies come in a vibrant rainbow of colors. Hot pink, white, sunny yellow, sherbert and ruby red are just a few of the gorgeous colors that these happy flowers boast.
The gerbera daisy was discovered in 1884 near Barberton, South Africa, by Scotsman Robert Jameson. While the flower’s scientific name, Gerbera jamesonii, recollects the name of its founder, the meaning of its common name draws from German naturalist Traugott Gerber. Breeding programs that began in England in 1890 enhanced the flower’s quality and color variations. The gerbera daisy’s popularity soon traveled to growers in the Netherlands which, along with Columbia, is the primary distributor of the flower’s cut version today. The gerbera currently ranks as the fifth most popular flower in the world behind the rose, carnation, chrysanthemum, and tulip.
The meanings of gerbera daisies stem from those attributed to the general daisy family. These meanings include innocence and purity, and daisies are also a classic symbol of beauty. However, the gerbera variety holds an added meaning of cheerfulness, which stems from the assortment of colors available. An assorted bouquet of gerbera daisies can lift the spirit and sending one is an ideal way to brighten someone’s day. The sheer multitude of available varieties has helped the gerbera daisy become a favorite choice for many different occasions – birthdays, get well, congratulations, thank you, and more.
There are many types of flowers which can help to express your thoughts and feelings for your loved ones, but the gerbera daisy and its meaning stand out as one of the most distinctly bright and merry. With its bold and striking appearance, the gerbera daisy has become the most highly-prized daisy variety. When you send gerbera daisies, know that these fresh flowers convey a deeply meaningful message and make a lively lasting impression. **meaning of flowers**

Blooms on Broadway=Your Capitol Hill Florist
Posted on 29. Apr, 2010 by admin in Uncategorized

For those of you that don’t know, Blooms on Broadway, moved from our location on Broadway back in November ‘09. The same local owner that owns Capitol Hill Flower and Garden on 15th, owns Blooms as well. So, it seemed only natural to consolidate their flower shops into the bigger location at 300 15th Ave E; Seattle, WA 98112.
The change has been hard. It was a tough decision, a necessary one, but tough nonetheless. I can tell you that as an employee of these awesome people that has worked at both locations, Broadway will always hold a special place in my heart, but 15th Ave E is pretty fantastic! The flower shop is bigger, more room to move around in, still an awesome selection of flowers, more cool vases/glassware, more plush, more cards, more plants, more balloons, more knowledgeable people!
So, if you’re a Blooms fan, you really should come check us out up on 15th. I know it seems like it’s soooooooo far away, but it really isn’t. Come on, support your awesome local florist (you know who you are!) instead of that big chain store (you know who they are). We’d love to see you. OR you can always call us(206-324-8845), I’m always happy to hear from you.

Hello from Blooms

Let me introduce myself. My name is Heather. I am a floral designer extraordinaire with 14 years experience. Our shop is called “Blooms on Broadway“. It’s a real urbanesque floral shop located on the corner of Broadway E and E Republican here in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Our little shop is locally owned. The owners are working owners and have 2 locations…the other you may know, located off 15th Ave E and E Thomas, which is known as “Capitol Hill Flower and Garden“.
About our flowers. When we can, we buy from local farmers. We like to support the little guys too! The owners take the highest pride in our flowers, many times being ordered direct from the grower and Veriflora certified. And other times, our flowers come out of Canada, California and Hawaii: We have some awesome exotic flowers, like Ginger, Haleconia, Proteas, Orchids, Birds of Paradise and others.
What makes us special? Our great customer service and freshest product available. We have many bouquets ready to go OR I always love when my clients choose their own flowers to have me wrap or design. It’s one reason why we’re so fun! But, there is always someone whom is knowledgable to help you too! Our little shop is in a great location, right off the busline and parking available in the underground parking via QFC. Plus, we’re in the fabulous Capitol Hill neighborhood. Full of people that know how to truly express themselves and choose us when they want a certain sentiment expressed with flowers.
Here’s some good things that have been said about us from our loyal clients:
So, when you want beautiful flowers, either to pick up or to have delivered (we do that too!) in Seattle metro and surrounding areas, especially our beloved Cap Hill, give us a call: 206-324-8845 or just stop by. I’ll always love to see or hear from you.
