So, after a huge shipment of flowers came in on Wednesday, it got me thinking…
Did you know that our flower shop gets flowers in almost every day? It’s true. And it’s hard work. If your a independent shop (like we are), you find yourself doing it all. From designing the gorgeous floral bouquets to cleaning buckets to answering phones to cleaning flowers. It’s important that when we get these gorgeous flowers in, that they get “treated” properly. Clean, warm water (that helps with hydrating them), clean buckets for display, cleaning the leaves off stems and cutting. So, don’t be surprised if you come in and see me walking around with a knife in my hand, I’m just constantly being busy.

Did you know that during the summertime, most of those flowers are locally grown? It’s true. We just received some beautiful zinnias, sunflowers, and dahlias. Such awesome colors!

Did you know that we are locally owned and operated? It’s true! The owners are a lovely couple that I get to work with every day. Administrative Professional’s Day, April 21st, 2010; Say “thanks” with flowers from Blooms!

I had an assistant in the shop the other day purchase flowers for his boss, whom sent their intentions via an email. I was pleased to see this person in our little family shop, ordering flowers from a local biz. Everything was neatly organized (as an assistant should be), all we had to do was discuss the type of flowers, occasion, and cost. As we do try to make things easy for our clients.

At the end of the sale, I reminded him that Administrative Professional’s Day was just around the corner..Wed, April 21st to be exact. We joked a bit and then he said..”well, flowers just aren’t in the budget…we’ll probably do a lunch.” And this got me thinking.
